Dental Care -
All disease starts in the mouth!... As
incredible as it may seem, most of the chronic and infectious
illnesses that trouble our society today are influenced by
the health of our mouths. Our mouths are a reflection of the
health inside our bodies. If you have poor dental health, you
are bound to have other health problems. Despite regular
brushing and flossing, 98 percent of the population has some
degree of gum disease or tooth decay. Recent research has
demonstrated a direct link between oral health and chronic
illness.
If you have bad breath, bleeding gums, cavities, or tooth
pain.... If you suffer from asthma, diabetes,
arthritis, migraine headaches, or any chronic illness, and
have not found relief, improving dental health could be the
solution you need. More brushing, flossing, and mouthwash
will help, but won't solve the underlying problem....
ACIDITY!
Acid forming food or drink (think soda, milk, meats, sweets,
etc.) that remain in the mouth raises the acid level around
the teeth. An acidic environment allows bacteria growth,
which causes inflammation, plaque build-up and gum disease.
Acid saliva furthers de-mineralizes the teeth, resulting in
cavity formation.
Since your mouth is the main entrance to your body, these
bacteria, oral pathogens and toxins can make their way to
other parts of your body through your bloodstream and
potentially cause secondary infections, chronic inflammation
and disease.
Natural Tooth Powders and Mouthwash help to raise the pH
level, making the saliva more alkaline and also helps to re-mineralize the teeth.

Natural
Tooth Powder....
Tooth Powder vs. Tooth Paste...
Commercial Tooth paste usually contains cheap fillers, toxic
fluoride, glycerin, artificial flavorings and other synthetic
ingredients. The mega companies with their big bucks have
fancy marketing words and claims, making everyone think this
is the norm. You could do better, just brushing with baking
soda alone.
Natural Tooth Powders.... contain herbs and
other ingredients which supply minerals and nutrients to your
teeth and gums. The herbs are potent and naturally
discourage bacterial growth. Other natural ingredients help
to balance pH, supply minerals and absorb toxins. Herbal
Tooth Powder can help with many tooth and gum problems such
as gingivitis, pyorrhea, bleeding, plaque formation, sores,
loose teeth, inflammation and others.
An acidic pH is a major cause of tooth decay...
The pH of our saliva is influenced by the food we eat
and the bacteria present in our mouth. Enamel is composed
of minerals, primarily calcium and phosphate. An acidic oral
environment (pH less than 7) disrupts the enamel, weakens the
tooth and allows minerals to leech out. This process is known
as demineralization and this leads to decay.
Re-mineralization.... Re-mineralization
occurs when calcium, phosphorus and other minerals and trace
elements from the saliva and other sources reabsorb and
strengthen the teeth. In order for re-mineralization to
occur, the teeth must be clean and free from any glycerin or
sugar (think candy or soft drinks) - which can coat the teeth
and prevent re-mineralization.

Earth Song’s
Herbal Tooth Powder Ingredients....
|
Bentonite Clay Powder.... is an edible clay from
naturally occurring volcanic ash that binds to and draws out
impurities and toxins. The high mineral content of the clay
helps to re-mineralize the teeth and heal decay. It is also
alkaline which balances the mouth’s pH. Bentonite clay
is a very mild abrasive that gently scrubs to remove tartar,
clean the gums and polish teeth.
Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda).... has an alkaline
pH of 8.1 and will neutralize the acids in the mouth. This
promotes tooth re-mineralization making the teeth more
cavity-resistant. Besides removing odors and freshening the
breath, baking soda acts as a very mild abrasive for
cleansing and polishing away stains and plaque build up.
Sea salt.... is a crucial ingredient as it also
helps to heal mouth sores and irritated gums. Salt is a
powerful antibacterial agent and also does the very important
job of neutralizing acid-creating bacteria.

White oak bark.... anti-inflammatory, astringent
Myrrh gum powder.... astringent, stimulating and
healing

it perfect for using right after meals.

and are often used to relieve toothaches. This pain relieving
herb combats strong breath and the underlying infections that
cause it.

Oil
Pulling....
Simple Ancient Practice... Remarkable Health
Benefits!
Oil Pulling Therapy is one of the most powerful, most
effective methods of detoxification and healing in natural
medicine. The science behind oil pulling is fully documented
with references to medical studies and case histories.
Although incredibly powerful, Oil Pulling Therapy is
completely safe and simple enough for even a child.
What is Oil Pulling?..... Oil pulling is an
ancient Ayurvedic practice dating back thousands of years.
They knew then that oral pathogens and toxins can make their
way to other parts of your body through your bloodstream and
potentially cause secondary infections, chronic inflammation
and disease. Because your mouth is the main
“gateway” to your body, oil pulling can lessen
your body’s toxic load by pulling out these pathogens,
preventing their spread to other areas of your body.
What are the health benefits?..... Besides
inhibiting bacteria that can lead to plaque buildup,
cavities, and gum disease, oil pulling can help with a
multitude of health issues. Many people that practice oil
pulling have reported rapid relief from systemic health
problems such as arthritis, inflammation, diabetes and heart
disease. When done correctly, oil pulling has a significant
cleansing, detoxifying and healing effect.
How do you do “oil pulling”?.....
Oil pulling is simple. Basically, it involves rinsing
your mouth with about a tablespoon of coconut or sesame oil,
much like you would using a mouthwash. The oil is
“worked” around your mouth by pushing, pulling,
and drawing it through your teeth for a period of about 15
minutes. This process allows the oil to neutralize and
“pull out” bacteria, viruses, fungi and other
debris. After working the oil around for 15 minutes, spit it
out and rinse your mouth with water.
Do NOT swallow the oil as it’s loaded with bacteria and
toxins.
Oral and Gut Flora - the connection.....
Consuming naturally fermented foods and incorporating
“oil pulling” with coconut oil are two effective
ways of balancing your oral and gut flora, which will improve
your oral health, as well as your overall health. The
bacteria in your mouth and gut are interrelated, and as you
improve your gut flora, the flora in your mouth improves
accordingly.

Pulling Therapy”, by Dr. Bruce Fife.

Other
Dental Care Considerations....
Another Danger: A Mouthful of Mercury...
Mercury is a toxic heavy metal that can poison your brain,
central nervous system and kidneys. Children and fetuses,
whose brains are still developing, are most at risk. Mercury
is such a potent toxin that just one drop in a lake would
poison the lake to the extent that the Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) would ban fishing in it. Yet, they
claim that carrying around a mouthful of mercury fillings has
no harmful effects. If you have mercury amalgams, it would
be advisable to consult a holistic dentist and have them
removed.
Steer Clear of Fluoride in Any Form.... If
you are using fluoridated toothpaste, you may want to
consider replacing it it with a safe one. Fluoride is of
little or no benefit to your teeth and poses serious health
risks, including immune dysfunction, endocrine disruption,
increased risk of fractures, arthritis, infertility, and many
more. But toothpaste isn t the only source of fluoride
- it is present in many non-organic foods from pesticide
residue (example iceberg lettuce). Also fluoride continues
to be added to many municipal water supplies.
Your Diet Is Key to Reducing Chronic
Inflammation..... The running thread
linking a wide variety of common health problems, including
cancer, is chronic inflammation in your body - regardless of
whether it originates in your mouth or not. Clearly,
addressing your oral health is an important step, but it
really all starts with your diet.
Eat organically grown produce, pasture-raised meats and cut
out the “junk” food for better health.
